Environmental Manufacturer of the Year
The judges considered that Ford was leading the way in trying to minimise
the impact of its commercial activities on the environment. "It was
felt in particular that its work on cutting emissions from the manufacturing
process and investing in end-of-life recycling of materials was commendable,"
they said. "It also works to ensure suppliers are meeting key environmental
targets as well, while senior management is whole-heartedly behind the
environmentally-friendly approach."
Ford fleet operations director Mike Wear said it was a particularly important
award for the company.
"Sustainable development and sustainable mobility are key issues
facing the
automotive industry in the 21st century," he said. "Ford Motor
Company is
committed to socially and environmentally responsible behaviour and is
taking a leading role within the automotive industry in addressing these
issues."
Initial judging for the Environmental Manufacturer of the Year Award was
carried out by the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association.
