Water saving risesTuesday 16 October 2007
A new report published today has revealed water savings of 65m litres per day equivalent to the consumption of 440,000 people in the last year. The Ofwat Security of Supply 2006/07 report covers the performance of water companies against voluntary efficiency targets and consumer demand.
The figures make it the third consecutive annual fall in leakage levels, standing one-third lower than the 1994 peak.
The focus by customers and companies on using water wisely is very important when companies are calculating how much water their customers will need over time and planning to find the water resources to meet that need, said Ofwat Chief Executive Regina Finn.
