VW gets green accolade.

Friday 22 August 2003

Volkswagen’s Lupo has achieved the highest marks for environmental friendliness from a prestigious German motoring association. The VCD (German Traffic Club) ranked the car first on a range of green criteria, including fuel consumption, emissions and noise levels.

The 1.4 FSI Lupo also fulfils exhaust standards that will not become compulsory in Europe until 2005 (Euro 4), signifying the advanced green characteristics of the car.

The Lupo has long been regarded as a highly efficient vehicle. During 2002 a TDI version of the car achieved a Guinness World Record for circumnavigating mainland Britain at an average of 119.48 miles per gallon.
