The WhisperGen is connected
to your central heating supply in the same way as a gas boiler
but as it is heating your water for your shower, bath or the
radiators to heat your home it generates your electricity
as a by-product. Inside each WhisperGen there is a small engine
that drives a generator which is wired into your electricity
system.
If you're using electricity at the same
time as your WhisperGen is running, the electricity produced
will contribute to your lighting, TV and other electrical
appliances. The good news is that if you produce more than
you require this will flow back out to the electricity supply
network and could be used by others, and Powergen will pay
you for this surplus electricity*.
Powergen has invested over £14m and 200 man years in the development
of the WhisperGen with New Zealand company Whisper Tech Ltd and
following extensive trials in the UK. Powergen has successfully
launched the product in East Anglia, East Midlands, Yorkshire, the North West and London regions.
