Toyota to increase clean models.

Toyota will introduce three new low emission vehicles in the next twelve months, increasing its hybrid range. Set to be launched in different guises around the world, the new range will consist of a mid-sized sports utility vehicle, a two-litre saloon and a minivan. The Japanese manufacturer already makes a hybrid version of the Prius. The Prius was the world’s first commercial hybrid car, sold in all major territories from 1997, and was shortly followed by the Honda Insight. Since then, Toyota has commanded a 90% market share for low emission vehicles. Unlike hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, which are currently being intensively road-tested by manufacturers the world over, hybrid technology is proven to be a reliable and efficient form of fuel. Hybrid engines run on a combination of petrol and electric sources.
