McDonalds obesity lawsuit thrown out.

2003-01-24
The latest lawsuit over the fattening characteristics of McDonalds products has been thrown out of court in New York this week. Teenagers Jazlyn Bradley and Ashley Pelman claimed that food purchased at the fast food restaurant did not come with sufficient warning of fat content, and led to their conditions of obesity.

Judge Robert Sweet stated; “This opinion is guided by the principle that legal consequences should not attach to the consumption of hamburgers and other fast food fare unless consumers are aware of the dangers of eating such food.”

Various other high-profile obesity lawsuits have been lodged against McDonalds, however this case is the first to make it to court. This week’s judgement is likely to set the precedent for any future claims.
