TDI Lupo claims fuel economy record.

A Volkswagen Lupo has achieved a Guinness World Record for circumnavigating mainland Britain at an average of 119.48 miles per gallon, beating the previous record holder by 16 percent. The feat represents the vehicle as the most fuel efficient diesel engined car on the commercial market. The 3L TDI completed the 3700+ mile trek under everyday driving conditions, to give a fair and clear result and fair play was assured by members of the British Federation of Police Motor Clubs. The Lupo employs the Volkswagen innovation PD TDI (pumpe duse), which appears in many of the manufacturers current range. The system uses an individual pump and injector for each cylinder, develops much more injection pressure than common rail, leading to greater efficiency. The VW Lupo 3L TDI is available in left –hand drive across mainland Europe.
