![]() Energy Efficiency Thursday 06 January 2010 Households are responsible for a massive 25% of the UK’s total carbon dioxide emissions, making them a major contributor to the country’s overall carbon footprint. As a result, energy efficiency in the home is one of the Government’s main areas of focus for action on climate change. Energy efficiency isn’t just about saving the planet – it’s also about saving money. With the credit crunch and with ever-rising energy bills, this is something that everyone should be looking to take advantage of. More efficient use of energy in the home – through insulation measures or the use of more efficient appliances - naturally results in lower energy bills. Better still, there are government grants available for various types of insulation, including cavity wall and loft insulation – making it even easier to benefit and make savings. A good energy efficiency ‘rating’ of a house is now a key selling point. As well as the positive financial aspects, energy efficiency also improves quality of housing, with warmer, healthier homes. |
