Landscape Services

2005-02-28
Landscape design should revolve around selecting plants and trees that are suited to climate and natural conditions, and creating little or no negative environmental effect.

In order to preserve existing eco-systems, certain materials should be avoided. These include chemical-based fertilisers and pesticides. Also, in the UK, peat is in short supply, so a suitable substitute should be used.

Water should be used sparingly in gardens to avoid summer shortages, and indiscriminately wasteful products like sprinklers and hose-pipes should be avoided.
