In order to preserve existing eco-systems, certain materials should be avoided. These include chemical-based fertilisers and pesticides. Also, in the UK, peat is in short supply, so a suitable substitute should be used. Water should be used sparingly in gardens to avoid summer shortages, and indiscriminately wasteful products like sprinklers and hose-pipes should be avoided. |
