Brown Goods2005-02-28 The term ‘brown goods’ refers to household electrical entertainment appliances. The UK market for brown goods is estimated to be around £3.8bn, and is expected to rise further. From an environmental perspective, the main problems with brown goods currently are energy efficiency and short life-spans. The life-span issue is addressed in the WEEE Directive, which states that appliance life-spans must be increased in order to lower the amount of waste which ends up in landfill. |
