Thin Overlays have come about as a result of the ongoing search for what could be termed the "ideal" road surface treatment: one which is durable, easy to apply and environmentally friendly.

Widely accepted as a civil engineering solution to road maintenance problems, thin overlays generally combine a high performance, bituminous binder with selected aggregates. Although hot applied, their application is quicker and causes less disruption than more traditional treatments.

Thin overlays also offer reduced tyre noise, and dramatically reduce spray in wet conditions, thus making driving safer. Skid resistance is also significantly reduced due to superior drainage.
