Animal rights
2005-02-12 The majority of products tested on animals around the world are cosmetics, which already have hundreds of market alternatives. In June 2002, the European Parliament announced plans to abolish cosmetic products which are tested on animals. If passed, the law will not only outlaw the practice in the EU, but will also ban imports of animal tested products from elsewhere in the world. The regulation is expected to come into force by 2005, and will enforce widespread humane cosmetic production.
