Pedal Power
2005-03-07 Research carried out by the DETR in July 2000 found that a quarter of car journeys made in the UK are under 2 miles long. It is on journeys such as this, of which there are clearly many, where a bicycle would be ideal. Traffic problems such as air pollution and congestion could be lessened if these short trips were made by bike. Many companies now offer changing facilities for employees who decide to cycle to work, and cycle route facilities are becoming more numerous and accessible, making cycling a genuinely viable, safe travel option.
