Design & Packaging

2005-03-03
The concept of ‘green design’ is intended to promote and encourage environmental awareness from the earliest stage possible. Issues such as material selection, waste streams and energy usage are considered in a clear, responsible manner from the outset. This reduces the chance of environmental problems arising later in the process.

Packaging is an essential for most products, but serves no purpose after retail, making it the most common type of waste. Therefore it is essential to both recycle unwanted packaging and buy products that come in recycled packaging. This cyclical process ensures that the packaging waste stream does not end up in landfill. Most companies have addressed the waste problems of recycled packaging, or are in the process of doing so. Any company accredited with ISO 14001 uses responsible packaging techniques.
